Thrifty Rapid City launched in October of 2008 - the brainchild of sisters Amy and Natalie. Natalie, in awe of her sister's frugality, constantly bothered Amy for tips on how to save money (and time) while still enjoying life. Amy, fed up with Natalie constantly asking for information, decided that if she was going to share her knowledge with one person - she might as well share it with many. Thrifty Rapid City exists to help those who live in the Black Hills Area make the most of their money and their experiences. We try to live within our means!

Choosing not to run up credit card debt, and trying to tread lightly in these difficult economic times, we've made the decision to engage a thrifty lifestyle. By making careful and thoughtful, intentional choices about what we buy and when we buy it, we have discovered that happiness does not come with a steep price tag! On the contrary, we've learned to enjoy fun/free events and opportunities within the community, to budget and shop based on the sales and coupons, and to live every moment to the fullest - focusing more on LIVING than on obtaining STUFF.
