Thrifty Rapid City launched in October of 2008 - the brainchild of sisters Amy and Natalie. Natalie, in awe of her sister's frugality, constantly bothered Amy for tips on how to save money (and time) while still enjoying life. Amy, fed up with Natalie constantly asking for information, decided that if she was going to share her knowledge with one person - she might as well share it with many. Thrifty Rapid City exists to help those who live in the Black Hills Area make the most of their money and their experiences. With weekly shopping lists, coupons, and articles to help you save money - you've got nothing to lose (and money back in your pocket!) by joining the Thrifty Rapid City Community. Browse around, print coupons, check out our links, and share our URL with friends. Lets make our City a Thrifty City!

Thrifty Rapid City Press Release | Press Release Rapid city coupons Thrifty Living Money Saving South Dakota Rapid City, South Dakota, November 1, 2008 -

Local sisters Amy Flanegan and Natalie Slack have launched a new website, www.thriftyrapidcity.com. Thrifty Rapid City was designed to fill the need for a local source of coupons, deals, and thrifty tips and ideas. With the shifting economy and more people looking for a good deal, Thrifty Rapid City provides ideas for lifestyle change, reducing our materialism, and finding the best deals in Rapid City.

Raised in a frugal family, Amy and Natalie both grew up thinking it was completely normal to buy second hand clothes (or worse – wear hand-me-downs!), use coupons at the grocery store, and use the library instead of buying books. Upon marrying and starting families of their own – the sisters realized how blessed they were to have learned and expounded on what they were taught as children.

When Amy discovered “the Drug Store Game” - a method of using store coupons as well as manufacturers coupons at local drug stores in order to buy items for drastically reduced prices (and sometimes for free!) - her natural tendency towards thriftiness became a true hobby. Searching for the best deals, finding the right coupons, and then planning her menu and shopping based on the lowest prices available became a weekly ritual. When her sister Natalie begged her to email out her findings, shopping lists, and coupon links on a weekly basis – the idea for Thrifty Rapid City was born.

Thrifty Rapid City posts weekly coupon deals at the local grocery stores and drug stores. There are also recipes that tie into the weekly grocery deals. You'll also find a local events calendar with free or thrifty events for the whole family, a list of local restaurants that offer discounts or deals, and a list of local attractions that are free or offer coupons or reduced rates at different times. Every week new thrifty tips and articles are posted. There is also a forum for website users to post their own ideas or questions as well as a classified ads system for users to post items for sale, or to giveaway, as well as to list their garage sales for free.

Thrifty Rapid City is FREE to the public. As our society becomes more conscientious about where our money goes – especially in tough economic times – it makes sense to use coupons and smart-shopping methods when trying to live frugally. Thrifty Rapid City makes frugal living easy – we do the leg work so you can “Steal the Deals and Live Thrifty!”
